It's Official!

Chris received communion for the first time from me!  How special that was!  It was my first time being an Eucharistic Minister.  A couple of  big firsts for both of us!  We are so lucky to have each other!  I am so proud of my hubby for all the hard work he did to become Catholic.  I was so happy that his family showed up to see this happen for him!  I told him that my parents would be so proud as well, especially my Mom who was a convert as well.

I was so lucky to have great parents that gave me my spiritual foundation.  Without them I would have never gotten this far.  I became an Eucharistic Minister because I wanted to serve, and I know it would have been something my Mom would have been doing......I now see a lot of her in me.  Thanks Mom and Dad.....I am so appreciative to you both.

It's Official!

This morning at 8:30 Mass I finally became a complete Catholic!  I was confirmed with three of my class mates.  Wow what a feeling to finally get confirmed!  I've been waiting for this for 44 years!
My brother and a very close friend of mine came to see this happen along with my hubby.  I so appreciate it!!  After Mass they had a little reception with cake which was unexpected.  It just feels good to have that one part of my religion done.  I will be taking an Eucharistic Minister class so that I can distribute the Body and the Blood....that should happen sometime this week or next depending on Matt. I am very excited to make another step closer to Jesus.  I love this journey that I'm on and the next big thing is my hubby being received into the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil....the count down has begun!

Tomorrow Is The Day!

I am so excited.....tomorrow I finally get confirmed and will be  complete Catholic finally!!!  Been waiting for this to happen for a long time!  My brother and a good friend are coming to support me along with my hubby.  He gets it all on March 26th at the Easter Vigil.  He is also so excited for me and for himself!
Can't wait!!!

Three Weeks!

I only have three more weeks until I am a Complete Catholic!  I am so excited!  I will be getting confirmed with two of my classmates. They will be receiving first communion as well. Matt our liturgy and music minister and Bob who's entire family is Catholic except for him.  It can not go fast enough for me.  This is what I've wanted for a very long time, you could say a dream come true!  My hubby will be receiving his first communion at Easter so he's not far behind me!  I will be glad when all of this is over.

The Date Has Been Set!

I finally asked when they thought that I would finally get confirmed and the answer was......February 7, 2016!  I'm so excited, something I've been waiting for, for such a long time! I guess there are others that are getting confirmed as well.  Once that is done I can take classes to become a Eucharist Minister!  That is something I've wanted to do since I went back to the Catholic church!  I know it would be something my mother would have jumped on!!  She is my motivating factor, I know she would be so proud!

I have been working on my brother and sister to try and get them back to the Catholic church....I'm not really sure if they are up to the challenge or not.  I've invited my brother to my conformation, but most recently I asked him to join us for Christmas Mass, I sure hope he decides to go with us!  Lots of prayers going on for that miracle to happen!

Great News!

I talked to Sr. Annette from my church and since my hubby is becoming Catholic, Sr. Annette got permission to let me attend classes so I could be confirmed!  I was so thrilled!  Finally after waiting all these years I will be confirmed!  I'm not sure how long the classes are for but I am sure that I will enjoy the process!

My only fear is that we are supposed to go see my grandson make his first communion about the same time that hubby makes his first communion, and I can't miss that for anything!  Hopefully explaining that to Fr. Mark he can make other arrangements for us to get our first communion/conformation done at another time.  It would be nice to be able to do it before our grandson does it so hubby can take communion!

Only time will tell....

Good News!

I just found out that I can get confirmed!!!  I do not have to go through RCIA to get it done!  It's a month of instruction then you are eligible to get confirmed.

I was not confirmed as child because of our parish priest.  He was not a kind person.  My dad had gone to sign us up for the classes and the priest told him that we would have to wait until the following year because the class was full.  Then we find out that our neighbor went down to sign her kids up for class after my dad had been there and her kids got in!!!  The reason we didn't get in  is because the priest had a beef with my dad.  My mother raised a ton of money for the church before our old priest left.  The new priest could not understand why my mother was unable to do that for him......if he even had a heart this would have not been an issue.  My mother was terminally ill she actually died a month and half after the arrival of this new priest.  He also was at my sister's friends house for dinner and she overheard the disparaging things he was saying about my mother.  Needless to say when my sister told my dad what had been said he went straight to the rectory and blasted the priest!!!  Therefore you see the reason the priest decided to be a complete ass and not let us in the confirmation classes!!  Needless to say my dad said the hell with it and quit going to Mass altogether! So long story short I finally get to complete the sacrament of confirmation after waiting 40+ years!

I have to say that this is the biggest deal to me!!!  Over the years I've drifted in and out of the Catholic religion.  The funny part is I keep coming back!  I am the only one out of us three kids that is still a practicing Catholic.  I think my mother would be very proud of me, for returning to the religion that she she so loved.  I agree with her 100% if there was one thing in my life that was always there for me it would have to be the Catholic Church!   I am proud to be a Catholic!!!! <(((><
