Been Awhile

We still haven't made it to Mass yet and now I have Covid 19 and I pray my husband does not get it.  He has COPD Covid would not work out for him.

I think we will go back soon.  I miss it a lot. I have great reasons why I need to get back  to it my husband just lost his dad last week and he has not really dealt with his dads death I really think he would benefit from more prayer.

5:00 Mass Finally!

Well, my church has reinstated 5:00ing horrible so we decided that it would be best not to go. I was so disappointed.  When we watched Mass this morning it made me miss going!  I told the hubby next Saturday we were going for sure! We have a new priest and I think I'm going to like him a lot!  I am so glad he keeps his homilies nice and short!  It will be weird going back with masks on and only every other pew available, they used to let the back row go to communion first but now it's the first row so we had a decision to make are we sitting where we used to sit and be the last to go to communion and the last to get out or do we suck it up and sit in the front.  My hubby picked the front so we are first to get in and out and the first to communion.  I sure hope some of the friends that we sat with come back too. It would be nice to see them again!

I Think I Am On The One Post Per Year Plan!

Oh so much has happened since my last post!  Last year was a hard one. I fell in my sister-in-law's basement 2 days after she passed away.  That was more than enough to handle but the fall resulted in a severe head injury I peeled back 11-1/2 inches of my scalp.  I had to have surgery to put myself back together.....2-1/2 hours!  I missed 2 weeks of work and I have no insurance!  IT was a huge burden for us, I didn't attend Mass during the healing process.

I was also diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a couple of months before the head injury.  Of course, I denied it for a year.  Was made to go to the doctor because he would not renew my prescriptions (I also have high blood pressure).  He had me donate some blood and my A1c came back as a 9.1, not good should be around 6. I knew I was going to get chewed on so I decided to get a jump start before I saw him again in a month.  I had lost 20lbs before my appointment!  Yeah for me!  He was very impressed and didn't chew on me at all!  He said I was doing great and to keep it up!  Total positive experience!  I see him in 6 weeks and I am hoping to have 50lbs off by then.  I have to date lost a total of 37lbs! Year for me! I have 13lbs to go to hit 50lbs I'm hoping I can do that, AND hopefully my A1c is down!

Now enter COVID-19.  This shut my work down for  6 weeks. Thank the Lord we still got paid our regular salary otherwise I would have been homeless! That ended and I finally got back to work. I have a co-worker that does nothing but lies starts shit and is an asskisser.  She is also Catholic or should I say she is a former Catholic.  She walked up to me and told me I was a cannibal because I receive! She claims she didn't know that Jesus was present in the bread and wine.  Well if she didn't know that then why did she call me a cannibal?  She had to know because she called me a cannibal! She claims to be this holy person but she is the exact opposite!  Talk about working with Satan.....she is pure evil.  I am done with her she had better stay as far away from me as she can!  I know I should be forgiving her and Praying for her but this all is too new it will come.

Long Time

It's been so long since my last post.....so much has happened.  I'm not going to Mass at this time.  I know I worked so hard to become a complete Catholic.  All this stuff going on in the Church with the priests and cardinals makes me sick.  Is this the religion  I really want to be associated with?  Take for example my church now has a set of drums and is becoming more and more protestant, then why be Catholic?  I really don't know what I'm supposed to do stay? Go?  Join a new church and hope they are Catholic?

I also have a big problem with our Pope.  I have NEVER liked him and the more he opens his mouth the more I believe he is NOT our Pope, is he the antichrist? Who knows. Why should I care about a man that says the dumbest things.....I think I'm done.

In Need of Lots of Prayers

We just found out my sister-in-law, who is only 50 yrs old has stage 4 pancreatic cancer.  She has elected to fight but I'm not sure she is up for chemo.  Just the kind of person she is I'm afraid that she isn't going to do well.  I personally would just live as long as I could while controlling the pain I'm not up for chemo I watched my mother go through that and it was not pleasant watching as she was so sick and losing weight.  I decided when I was 15 yrs old that no way would I put those nasty chemicals in my body just to get a possible few more weeks or months.  Just not worth it for me.

She went up to Mayo yesterday but we have not heard what they said.  I'm guessing since we haven't heard that she probably didn't get such good news especially since the cancer has already spread to her liver.  All we can do is pray.  We are going to have a mass said for her and I've put her on some prayer chains.  There is always hope......and faith!

The Devil Is On The Prowl

I can't believe all the turmoil that is going on with our country, it feels like we are so divided and there is nothing but HATE going on all around us.  I have to say that when I go to Mass I pray real hard for this country and our President.  I think he is doing a really good job but if you listen to mainstream media he is racist, he is doing nothing but turning this country on it's head.  That is so far from the truth, he is a God-fearing Christian that just wants to make our country great again.  The liberals have twisted everything!  I feel as though the devil was just released and goes by the name Democrat.  They can't see the forest thru the trees.  If they would just listen they might find he is doing a great job to make things better.  It reminds of the story of Saul and how God took his eyesight until he could "really see". I hope thing turn around soon.

Easter

It's been awhile since I've posted....Life just gets in the way sometimes.  Here we are the day before Easter, I can't believe it's been 2 years since Chris was received into the Catholic Church!  Time flies when you are having fun!

We meant to go to at least one of the Stations of the Cross this year but it just escaped us. Ash Wednesday to now went by in a blur.  Chris has been battling with his COPD he has been rather sick for the last 6 weeks.  Hopefully, he is on the mend now!

I never found out what Chris gave up for Lent, but I gave up Facebook.....not a good choice since I don't FB much.  Next year I will have to think up something better to give up, probably Instagram I love Instagram!

We are not doing much for Easter just going to Mass (the early one 7:00am) then come home and make lunch...Ham and scallop potatoes, and corn yummy!  I will be glad that there are no more meatless Fridays since we both turned 60 this year we didn't have to fast.  It would have not been a good thing for me since I was diagnosed as a Type 2 Diabetic in January.  I was not thrilled about this in the least. Sometimes I really wonder if I am a diabetic I have NONE of the symptoms.  Oh well, it could be worse I could be insulin dependant like my hubby! Everybody has a cross to bare and I guess that is mine.

Losing A Loved One

I am so sad...our Lilac Point Siamese cat (2yrs old) had to be put down he was suffering from a lung condition that could not be fixed even by my father-in-law who is a veterinarian. This cat, Phinn was my husband's cat he had a host of things wrong with him but we loved him so.  He was so sweet and loving, funny, and a brat.  I never thought we would lose him so soon I thought we would have more time.

This is so hard for me I can only imagine what my hubby is going through he keeps things inside.  Of course, he's a man so he can't cry (I'm sure he does when I'm not around) but I don't I just let it all out....My Aunt died a couple of months ago I cried more for Phinn than I did for her. That is not something I am proud of, I guess the difference was I rarely saw her and Phinn was an everyday delight.  He was the best cat ever except when he was being a brat.  Why is it so hard to lose the pets? I pray he goes straight to heaven and is waiting for us to show up.....in the meantime, he can be my little angel looking down on us.

I miss you little buddy for as long as I live.....we shall see each other soon....hugs and kisses to you Phinn and your beautiful face that lighted up our life!

Bible Journaling

Well, I have found a new website and I can't wait to share it!  The Littlest Way Jenny is a stay at home mom of 7 children and she is a Catholic home schooler.   Her site is amazing, she does a lot of bible journaling and prayer journaling.  Two things that I am going to try.  I am a faithful reader of the bible.  I read at the very least one chapter a day. I have found from doing this daily that I have become a lot more calm.  Being in the word each day is just a really good feeling.  I will for go housework to read my bible. Which makes me more of a "Mary" than a "Martha".  I noticed that I'm not as worried about "things" I figure that as long as I am doing God's will everything else will fall into place. I feel a change has happened since I started to read each day.  I'm not as snappy as I can be with my hubby. He will always get on my nerves just because he doesn't listen.....he hears but doesn't listen (like most men)!

If only I can do this at work, I get ticked at my Doctor when he does insane things like trying to do a crown prep (a 90-minute procedure) when they only gave us 30 minutes. Running behind drives me batty!!!! I am a planner person and I am one who is at least 15 minutes or more when arriving somewhere. I hope my new attitude can be shifted over to the work place! I guess we shall see!

Breaking Habits

They say it takes 6 weeks to break a habit....well I am going to put that to the test!  A friend at work was saying how she quit swearing and especially saying OMG.  I thought it would be a nice challenge for me to do the same. I know this is going to be hard since I'm so used to using OMG among other words.  So 6 weeks from now would be August 20th.  I pray I can do this.  There are so many things I need to change but I'm starting with this.  Wish me luck! or even better pray for me!

Lot's To Think About

Well, I've been doing a lot of reading.....in my Catholic Women's Bible, and I have to say I have been feeling a whole lot better about things!  I always know when the devil starts to creep into my life and that is when I go to my trusted companion, my bible. Try to read a chapter each day but when I feel things closing in on me I have my nose in the Bible a lot more!

Today at Mass Fr. Mark was talking about being gentle and how Christ was a gentle man he told the story of the woman caught in adultery and how the Jews wanted to stone her, after all, that was the law!  But trying to trip Jesus up (which didn't happen!) They brought her to Him and asked him what to do He, of course told them one of the most famous lines ever.......let he who is WITHOUT sin cast the first stone....eventually they all left and it was just her and Jesus, he told her she was forgiven and not to commit that sin again. It made me think......how many times have I gone to confession and confessed the same sin over and over?  After we are forgiven we are not to commit that sin again yet we just keep doing it.

It was just weird that Fr. Mark brought that story up because it was the last thing I read last night in my trusty Bible....things have a way of coming around and slapping you in the face!  Not I have not committed adultry, but I have judged people and I have confessed the same sin over and over.  So I need to pay attention to what I am confessing and I need to stop judging people.  (In my defense, please do not think I  go around and judge people on a regular basis.)  I have lots to think about.....it's time for me to READ!!!!

Palm Sunday

I love Palm Sunday! It's the beginning of Holy Week....we really wanted to go to Mass on Holy Thursday and Good Friday but I have a CPR class I have to be at....so there goes Holy Thursday.....we can't make it to Good Friday either, maybe next year.  We had planned on going to at least one of the Stations of the Cross but it never worked out that we could go.

This year is an anniversary of sorts for my hubby he became Catholic last Easter. He is still learning....but is doing great!  He never has said that he didn't want to go to church and I think that is great and half the battle.  Some people are gun ho at first then they run out of steam after awhile, not him!!!

I will resume my Eucharistic ministering the Sunday after Easter.  I didn't do it all winter just because my hubby tends to been in the hospital during winter he has many health issues so it will be nice to get back to it, I have missed it.

Well I'm looking forward to the nicer weather and seeing old friends at Mass this Spring! We usually sit with Pat on Saturday night but she only comes during the warm months she is in her late 70's and has a bad leg she doesn't want to risk it in the Winter so it will be nice to get back to normal!

Lent

Well we are in the midst of Lent.....it is my favorite time in the Church, I love all the things that go with it....the Stations of the Cross, Holy Thursday, Good Friday.....etc.  This year for Lent I gave up Facebook and to tell you the truth I am not missing it at all this could be the end of  Facebook for me!

My hubby didn't give up anything he added to.....he is praying everyday, that is what he is supposed to do but since he is a fairly new Catholic I will let it slide this year.  Maybe this will kick start him into praying every day like he is supposed to.  He's done really well with everything else so I can cut him some slack on this.

Lately I've been reading my bible, trying to read it at least once a day if not more.  I am under some stress and when that happens it always seems like the devil works his way into my head and makes me nervous, crabby, and snappy.  Hopefully by knowing this happens I can push him out of my head and back down to hell where he belongs. He has NO authority over me I am a child of God!

Letting The Devil In

Since we have moved to our new house four months ago I can't find my Bible.  Have I really looked for it?  Not really, I did find my other Catholic Bible and it's fine I just like my other one better.  I really need to get back on track and read it like I was doing I am noticing that my thinking is off, my moods are off and I've let the devil in my head and he is telling me lies as usual.  Now that I've realized what is going on with me I need to get back to the things I know I should be doing.....praying more and reading my bible.  We do attend Mass every week and I am still an EM, but I've slacked off in doing the right thing as far as my faith.

While talking with my husband he has been feeling the same way I have been feeling I told him that we both need to pray more and get back to reading the Bible on a regular basis.  It's crazy how if you let up on your prayer life, the devil finds a way to get in your head and mess with your thoughts, feelings, demeanor. Well starting tonight, the devil is no longer allowed in my head, heart, or house!

Hopefully things will change in a big hurry!

Long Time

And again it's been forever since I"ve posted!  I guess buying a house and trying to get things put in their place has taken up most of my time.  I am still serving as an EM and am liking it more.  We have a big EM meeting coming up on October 8th. I am signed up to go but not sure if I will make it.  That is the week I have friday off and we might take a day trip to my hubby's home town.  He has to clear up some stuff from his mother's death.  It will be nice to be done with all of that.  Of course if his mother knew he became Catholic she would be having a fit, she didn't like Catholics not really sure why someone would not like a Catholic just because of their religious choice, but whatever....she is one that needs to be prayed for! Hopefully in the future I will be better at posting!  I just need to remember to do it! (Good lucky to me on that one!)

Long Time No See

I can't believe that I have not posted since May! A lot has happened since then! My hubby became Catholic on Easter, we finally bought a house and have just moved in. We are by no means settled in yet but we are getting there! Our cats (we have three Siamese) are not all the way OK with the house. The youngest one Phin is doing fine it's the older 2 that are having a hard time especially my cat Chloe she will be 12 years old this October. We knew she would be our problem child!

On the church front we are still at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.  We missed church 3 weeks in a row due to our very slow move.  I just loved going to confession and telling Father we had missed 3 weeks in a row....he was understanding but I got a Hail Mary and an Our Father for it and my husband only got an Our Father!!!  He said it was because he did his face to face....I didn't, I won't, it will never happen!  I am old school give me the closet!!!!!

Here is another omission, I have not been praying at all!!!!  I don't know what is wrong with me.  I got into a huge texting fight with my sister who is absolutely nuts!!!  She is so vindictive she needs major help. Well that has prompted me to start with prayer and end the day in prayer so maybe that is why this whole thing started with her.  Anyway anything that gets me where I should be is a good thing!

Our Last Class

Today was our last RCIA class....yes we already have had our sacraments but the class went on until today for anyone that wanted to come of course we attended all of them.  It was kind of sad it was ending but we made a ton of new friends because of it!  Of course our faith journey is still an on going thing.  You never stop learning and I have found that each Mass I attend there is always something new to take from it.  I must say my religion is very important to me and to my hubby who is still learning the ropes.

I have reduced my EM duties to once a month. I have found I'm not as excited about it as I first was but will continue until my three years are up.  I would not mind subbing for people once in awhile, but I'm not a big fan of it most of the time I guess it depends on the Mass and who is serving with me. I have a big problem when others don't pitch in after Mass to clean up don't know why that trips my trigger since I always do go back to help.  I should be a better person and let it go but for whatever reason I'm not doing that right now.....time will tell.

More Eucharistic Ministering

Yesterday I got an email from our Liturgical and Music Coordinator he wanted to know if I would be interested in serving the 8:30am Mass on May 1. Of course I accepted because I just hate to be pigeon holed into 5:00pm on Saturdays only.  I have to say that this should have come a long time ago I had been asking for this since February!!  I wish they would not assume that just because I attend Mass most of the time on Saturday that it is the only Mass I go to.  I like to change it up once in a while. Besides I really liked going to 8:30 Mass on Sunday it gets me up and going for the day and I would not have a problem changing it around so that I would attend that Mass more!

Today I got an email from one of the guys that did some of the RCIA classes I guess they have taken all of the EM's and assigned us a specific Mass time and now we have an EM leader who will keep in close contact with his group via email, phone, and at Mass.  I guess they want to make sure that we new EM's serve our once a month?  I don't see how this is helpful?????  I kind of wondered if this might have come about because I was signed up for several Masses and then declined all of them. It doesn't really matter they can't make me do it, but I will full fill my obligation. I am one of those people that have to finish everything I do....which is a good thing I think!  I guess I will just have to see how this plays out.

A Little Disinchanted with being a Eucharistic Minister

Well I've been Eucharistic Minister four times now and I'm not sure how I feel about it.  I have a real problem with some of the people that come up for the bread/wine.  Some of the older people do not look you in the eye and they barely squeak out an Amen much less bow.

Another aspect of distribution of communion is the lack of people that help out after Mass.  There are 12 of us serving and only one or two of them go back to clean the holy vessels.  I had two mother/daughter duos that stood in the back room with dry towels chit chatting and not doing any washing/drying/putting away of things, then when we were done they just left.  I was outraged how lazy and what kind of example they were setting for their daughters.  This last Saturday I did serve as EM but refused on purpose to go back and help since those others didn't do a dang thing last time I was not going to be put in that situation again.  I left after Mass.  I'm sure I shouldn't be complaining about this but it just burns me to a crisp.  I should just offer it up and move on.  And eventually I will. but I took myself off of the list to serve as EM I will only be doing it once a month until my three years of service is up.

O Lord, please help to let this go and move on.  Help me to move on and do what you command me to do and if it is to be EM more than once a month then lead me to that.......

Eucharistic Minister......Loving It!

I have served as a Eucharistic Minister twice now, once at the Easter Vigil, which was very special because I got to distribute to my hubby as it was his first communion, and at Easter Sunday Mass.  I chose to distribute bread once and wine the second time.  I'm not really a fan of the wine. I thought alternating bread and wine would be a nice thing to do even though I'm not really a fan of the wine.

I've signed up for the next three weeks to distribute and from then on every other week.  I really like to do it but I don't want to "hog" the positions, I need to let others have a chance at it.  I just hope I'm not in a group like I was last Sunday we had 6 people helping to wash, put away or set up for the next Mass, the only problem with that was 5 of the ladies stood there talking and only two of us drying, putting away, and setting up.  People need to fulfill their duties and not heap it on a few others.

We are back to going to 5:00 pm Mass on Saturday night and I love it!  We are back with our friends!
This is exciting to me because my hubby finally gets to get in line for communion!  No more moving out of the way for him!  I am so proud of him to go through the classes to become Catholic!
